Ingredients
Method
- Fill a highball glass with ice cubes, leaving about an inch from the top. The ice should fill roughly two-thirds of the glass to ensure proper dilution and temperature.
- Pour the Southern Comfort, amaretto, and sloe gin over the ice. These three liqueurs form the foundation of your Alabama Slammer, creating that signature sweet and fruity base.
- Add the orange juice and pineapple juice to the glass. These juices provide the refreshing tropical notes that balance the sweetness of the liqueurs.
- Slowly pour the grenadine down the side of the glass or over the back of a spoon. Watch as it settles to the bottom, creating that beautiful sunset gradient.
- Give the drink a gentle stir to slightly blend the flavors while maintaining some of the beautiful color variation. Garnish with an orange slice and maraschino cherry on a cocktail pick.
Notes
Budget-friendly substitutions: Peach schnapps can replace Southern Comfort, cranberry juice works instead of grenadine for color, and any sweet almond liqueur substitutes well for amaretto. Don't skip the grenadine - it provides essential color and sweetness balance. Avoid over-stirring, which eliminates the pretty layered effect. Always use fresh juices when possible for the best flavor profile. Pre-mixed Alabama Slammer base (without ice) stays fresh for 2-3 days refrigerated. Always add fresh ice and garnish when serving.
