Ingredients

  • 6 cups Chex cereal (corn, rice, or wheat - any variety works)
  • 2 cups bite-sized pretzels
  • 2 cups oyster crackers
  • 1 cup mixed nuts (peanuts work great too)
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch dressing mix
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 250°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. In a large mixing bowl, combine Chex cereal, pretzels, oyster crackers, and nuts.
  2. Melt butter in the microwave for 30 seconds, then stir in the ranch packet until completely combined.
  3. Pour the ranch butter mixture over your cereal mixture and toss thoroughly with clean hands or a large spoon until every piece glistens slightly with the seasoned butter.
  4. Sprinkle both cheeses evenly over the mixture and toss again until distributed.
  5. Spread mixture in a single layer on your prepared baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to ensure even browning until everything smells nutty and looks golden brown.

Notes

Store completely cooled mix in airtight containers for up to one week at room temperature. For longer storage, freeze portions for up to three months. Refresh day-old mix by warming at 250°F for 5 minutes. Don't skip parchment paper for easy cleanup, avoid overcrowding the baking sheet, and always stir every 5 minutes to prevent burning and ensure even cooking.
