Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F and grease an 8x8 inch baking dish with butter.
- Using a sharp serrated knife, carefully slice each Hawaiian roll horizontally into 3-4 thin rounds. Keep the slices together as you work to maintain the roll's shape.
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Stir until you have a fragrant, spreadable paste.
- Spread a thin layer of cinnamon mixture between each slice, then gently press the roll back together. Place assembled rolls in your prepared baking dish, leaving small gaps between each one.
- Brush any remaining cinnamon mixture over the tops and bake for 15-18 minutes until golden brown.
- While rolls cool for 5 minutes, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth. Drizzle generously over warm rolls.
Notes
The rolls can be assembled the night before and baked fresh in the morning. Store leftover rolls covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat individual portions in the microwave for 15-20 seconds or warm the entire batch in a 300°F oven for 5 minutes. Can freeze baked, unglazed rolls for up to 2 months. Handle rolls gently to prevent tearing and avoid overbaking to prevent toughness.
