Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (15.25 oz)
  • 1 can sliced peaches in syrup (29 oz), undrained
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and sliced thin
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. Pour the entire can of peaches with their syrup into your prepared dish. Spread them evenly across the bottom.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the peaches. Don't stir or mix - keep ingredients layered.
  4. Arrange thin butter slices across the entire surface of the cake mix.
  5. Sprinkle chopped pecans over everything for added texture and nutty flavor.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top turns golden brown and you hear gentle bubbling around the edges. The center should feel set when lightly touched.
  7. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

Don't drain the peaches - the syrup creates essential moisture. Avoid stirring layers together. Use cold butter slices for better browning. Don't open oven door frequently. Store covered in refrigerator for up to 4 days. Reheat individual portions in microwave for 30 seconds or whole pan in 300°F oven for 15 minutes. Can substitute frozen peaches (thawed with juice), white cake mix, or walnuts for pecans.
